Getting the hypnosis help you need – affordably! While some people only need a single hypnosis session to achieve their desired results, most people can benefit from multiple hypnosis sessions or at least a couple of follow-ups on the single session. However, multiple hypnosis sessions can be cost prohibitive for many. Therefore, to provide the best service to my clients, I have created affordable “follow-up” sessions. This article discusses the new “follow-ups,” and the reasoning behind them, as well as reminding everyone of the discounts I offer for bundles of four or six regular sessions. » Read the rest of this entry «

The Demystification of Hypnosis

October 1st, 2013 § Comments Off on The Demystification of Hypnosis § permalink

I have been so immersed in the world of hypnosis for such a long time that I forget how weird it is for some people. Hypnosis is just weird. A valid opinion for those who don’t fully understand what hypnosis really is and how it works.

One of my goals as a consulting hypnotist at Intuitive Hypnosis in Portland, Oregon, is to focus on the demystification of hypnosis for as many people as I can, on a regular basis. I have spent the last 4 years offering free lectures about hypnosis, I have written dozens of articles about hypnosis, and I have educated and informed each of my clients about hypnosis and how it works. As mentioned above, I have been so immersed in the world of hypnosis for such a long time that I forget there are still many people who just think it’s weird. » Read the rest of this entry «

Mindfulness at school reduces likelihood of depression

June 19th, 2013 § Comments Off on Mindfulness at school reduces likelihood of depression § permalink

Recent studies have shown that teaching mindfulness at school reduces the likelihood of depression related symptoms in adolescents.

Mindfulness training – we hear a lot about it these days. Mindfulness is officially taught in psychology courses now, and gaining popular support in a variety of communities and cultures. Incorporating mindfulness into our public schools would be an excellent next step for this country. Recent studies (LINK) have shown that teaching mindfulness at school reduces the likelihood of depression related symptoms in adolescents.

This makes sense if you understand that depression is often the result of negative downward spiral thinking about past events. By remaining focused on the present moment, which is what mindfulness is, the self-defeating pull of depression can be avoided.

Hypnosis is an excellent tool that you can use to train, or condition, your mind to stay focused on the present moment. Whether you use self-hypnosis or listen to hypnosis recordings prepared by a professional hypnotherapist, such as myself at Intuitive Hypnosis, you can successfully reduce the likelihood of experiencing depression related symptoms regardless of your life situation.

There are many options available when it comes to mindfulness training, each with the same result in mind – to be at peace with what is, to remain focused on the present moment, and learn to accept. Hypnosis can help you develop that discipline, and maintain the peace of mind that comes with staying present. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did!

How to Get the Most out of Self-Hypnosis

OK, so you learned how to do self-hypnosis (Self-Hypnosis is Easy and Fun!), you know about creating positive suggestions for yourself, but, do you know how to get the most out of self-hypnosis and really get to the bottom of what you want?

In my practice at Intuitive Hypnosis in Portland, Oregon, I use an approach with my clients based on a Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) outcome frame. It is an excellent tool that I use with almost every client to help us narrow down exactly what they want as a result of their hypnosis treatment.

The NLP outcome frame has a lot of questions, all of which I use with clients in my office. I have narrowed down the questions to the most important, in my opinion, to include when combining with self-hypnosis. By learning to use this NLP outcome frame to create your outcome statement, you can learn to expertly define exactly what you want as you practice self-hypnosis. » Read the rest of this entry «
